Munster Strokeplay: There was no joy for our three competitors, Damien Fleming, Ger Casey and Darragh O’Keeffe in the Gents competition although Damien and Darragh managed to finish in the Top 10 in the Senior and Intermediate grades respectively.
Ricky Kelly: Once again the biggest club fixture of the year has arrived and by the time or reading the first shots will have been hit in this year’s competition. Our full course will make a welcome return after three years out of action and all eyes will be on the winning team come Monday night. Teams can still be entered any time up to seven o’clock on Sunday and the format once again is a three ball scramble they all must contain at least one non registered member of the PPUI. The BBQ will get underway on Monday evening at 6.30 with music from Donal Shine and Jackie Mahony. Not only will the prizes be presented on the night but also the cheque from the proceeds of the event to Kerry Cystic Fibrosis. Looking forward to seeing you all over the course of the weekend.
Club Fourball Matchplay: The team of Daniel Shine and Paudie Looney advanced to the final after defeating Sean O’Brien and Mag B Looney at the weekend. At the time of writing they await the winners of Ger Casey/Aidan O’Keeffe and John Murphy/Andy Brennan in the final.
Club Singles Matchplay: The entry sheets are now up on the wall for both the Gents and Ladies competitions. Please note the Ladies competition will only be ran in the event of eight or more women entering. Entry fee is €8 and must be paid to shop prior to commencement of competition.
Anniversary Mass: We will be having a mass for deceased members of the club on Tuesday July 20th at 8pm. The mass will coincide with the first anniversary of the death of Dan O’Leary, a valued and esteemed member of our club. All club members invited to attend.
Kerry Ladies Team: The Kerry County Board has decided to run a trial for a Ladies team for the Munster Inter County in Castleisland on Sunday, July 18th at the club’s annual scratch cup. All Ladies are asked to indicate their interest to the club prior to the trial.
PPUI Summer Camp: The club will be hosting a PPUI run Summer Camp for kids from Monday July 19th to Friday July 23rd The cost is €50 per child with reductions of €5 per extra child from the same family. Please contact Damien Fleming for further information.
Summer Fourballs: Only six turned up due to the inclement weather last week and even though the competition did not count towards the League table, Jason O’Connor and Paudie Lynch claimed the pot with a 40 nett.
U-16’s : It proved to be a great trip to Offaly on Saturday for three of our young stars as the ‘three Kierans’ swept the prizes in the Ferbane Open with Kieran O’Keeffe coming first, Kieran Looney second and Kieran Murphy claiming the back 18 prize. Well done to all three.
