Castleisland Scratch Cup: Damien Fleming secured his place at the top of the Kerry team standings with a 17 under round for 36 holes last Sunday. In the competition itself he finished third overall with 27 under, four behind the winner John O’Meara from the Riverdale club in Nenagh with 31 under. Even though he didn’t win a prize for it, Billy Burns’ round of 13 under par deserves special praise as well as Darragh O’Keeffe making the playoff.
Anniversary Mass: Thanks to everyone for attending last Tuesday night and thanks to everyone who helped prepare for the mass. Dan O’Leary’s bench is a suitable memorial to his memory as we remember him on this the first anniversary of his death.
Club Singles Matchplay: The draw for Round One of the Gents competition sponsored by Murphy’s Bar has been made with two weeks (up to July 31st) allowed for the completion of all First Round games. Please pay the €8 entry fee to the shop if you have not already done so. The Ladies competition which will be sponsored by Samantha’s Hair Salon will commence in due course.
Summer Fourballs: Last Wednesday we switched to a Singles format and Timmy Looney was the winner. Same again this and every Wednesday at 7.30pm
Committee Meeting: This Tuesday in the clubhouse at 8pm. All committee members requested to attend.
National Strokeplay: We wish Damien and Paudie Looney the very best of luck in Ryston, Newbridge, Co Kildare this weekend. Damien is paired in the same group as Tralee’s Jason O’Regan in the Seniors while Paudie takes part in the Junior Grade on Saturday. Hopefully the knowledge they have gained from playing the course in the Short Grass Scramble up there will stand them in good stead.
